Dongfeng

Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. is a state-owned commercial enterprise primarily engaged in automobile manufacturing, sales, service, and technological research and development. Its predecessor was the Second Automobile Manufacturing Plant, established in 1969. Over the past 56 years, it has produced and sold over 62 million vehicles, paying approximately 700 billion yuan in taxes. As of the end of 2024, the company's total assets reached 470.386 billion yuan, with 117,000 employees. In 2024, Dongfeng Motor made solid progress in its transformation and development, selling 2.48 million vehicles and delivering 2.55 million to end-users. Among these, new energy vehicle sales reached 860,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 64.4%, while sales of its own-brand vehicles reached 1.37 million units, a year-on-year increase of 34.8%.

The company's reform and development has gone through stages of arduous entrepreneurship (1960s-1970s), rapid growth (1980s), reform and adjustment (1990s), and opening up and cooperation (2001-2011). Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, it has entered a new stage of transformation and development (2012-present). In 1975, the first military vehicle rolled off the production line. In November of the same year, with the approval of the State Council, the automobiles produced by the Second Automobile Works (SAW) were officially named "Dongfeng". In 1978, the first civilian EQ140 medium-duty truck was put into mass production. In 1992, SAW was renamed Dongfeng Motor Corporation. In 1999, a comprehensive institutional reform was carried out, and a parent-subsidiary management structure was initially established. In 2003, the company headquarters was moved from Shiyan, Hubei to Wuhan. In 2017, Dongfeng Motor Corporation was renamed Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. In 2020, Voyah Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. was established to develop independent high-end new energy vehicles. In 2022, Mengshi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. was established to enter the field of luxury electric off-road vehicles. In 2023, the mainstream electric vehicle brand Dongfeng eπ and the national pure electric professional brand Dongfeng Nano were launched.

The company's production bases are located in more than 20 cities across China, including Wuhan, Shiyan, Xiangyang, Guangzhou, Liuzhou, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, and Dalian. Its main businesses cover passenger and commercial vehicles, key assemblies, auto parts, automotive equipment, and related services such as auto finance. Its products cover luxury, high-end, and mainstream market segments; and its automobiles are exported to more than 100 countries and regions.
